Gnarly Routes Midway, Utah Tour 2026

We just finished up an incredible ride in one of our favorite riding zones in Utah. The area surrounding the mountain town of Midway, Utah offers some of the best flowing mountain trails with a little less rock than some of the areas in Colorado that we ride. Despite having a small group, we still had big fun and put in some long days on the bikes.

Prior to our guests arriving, we mounted up sixteen tires (eight sets) of Michelin StarCross 6 Med/Hard tires and installed a larger capacity IMS tank on one of our KTM 450 XCF-W guide bikes.

We had multiple return riders out on this trip and they decided to opt for the KTM four stroke motorcycles that we have instead of the usual 300 XC-W options that these guys normally ride. The four stroke bikes worked well in the terrain but also provided a different challenge on some of the steeper and more technical downhill sections.

The only curveball that was thrown at us was on day three when a KTM 350 EXC-F completely stopped firing after a series of switchback turns on a descent. We were able to coast the bike down to a parking lot and quickly diagnose the problem. After pulling the spark plug and verifying that there was indeed no spark, it ended up being a blown fuse that controlled the electrical system. Something that we have never seen happen before. We quickly swapped out the fuse and the bike roared back to life and finished the remainder of the ride without issue.

The trip was a success and despite higher than normal temperatures in the region (mid nineties!) we all had a blast together.

Our next ride takes place outside Rico, Colorado September 10-14, 2026. For more information or to sign up visit the riding vacations page.
